My name is Grace Ambrose and in 2014, I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and hospitalised for four months. A mixture of anxiety, OCD and depression caused a downwards spiral of negative coping mechanisms and in an attempt to gain control of my life I ended up almost losing it.
Since then I have begun to find myself, stopped calorie counting and am on the long journey of self love and acceptance. I hope to use my story to inspire people that recovery is possible and talking is always the best way forward. Caraline have helped me to take back control of my life and use the time I was wasting lost in my head to achieve things I never would have thought possible. Because of this I am now able to leave home and study at a drama school in Brighton, perform on stage, skydive, and even do 'normal' things like go on dates and get sweets at the cinema.
As an ambassador for Caraline's Young People's service, I would like to be able to spread a positive message that although recovery is such a long winded road, every small step makes the world seem brighter and the bad days never feel as bad. I want to be able to reach out to people as a friend and role model so that together we can learn to love ourselves and all be living proof that it gets better.
